A groundbreaking development, today, the Moroccan Government and BTR New Material Group Co., Ltd. have finalized a landmark agreement valued at 3 billion dirhams, marking the establishment of Tangier’s inaugural cathode production facility. This venture stands to bolster Morocco’s burgeoning Electric Battery sector while creating over 2,500 employment opportunities. With an ambitious target of achieving a 50,000-ton annual output, the plant is poised to commence operations in September 2026.
The regional investment center of Tangier Tetouan AlHoceima Region, in collaborative efforts with local and national partners : Morocco Now, SATT, MICEPP – Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, ANAPEC, OFPPT, Université Abdelmalek Essaâdi, Conseil de la Région Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, TMSA Tanger Med Zones have been instrumental in providing comprehensive support and guidance at every stage of this strategic undertaking from the initial exploratory visits to our vibrant region to the decision to install the plant in the Tangier Tech Industrial Acceleration Zone on August 2023, and its official company registration on October 2023.
